The Smoking Goat is an award-winning California-French bistro located in the heart of North Park, San Diego. We have received the Gold Medallion for the best French Bistro in San Diego three years running.

Inspired by his European Farm-to-Table up-bringing and culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Executive Chef and Owner Fred Piehl, marries classic French cuisine with the bounty of San Diego in a way that is rustic, yet refined, imaginative, yet unpretentious.

The dinners served feature in-season local, sustainable and organic ingredients and provide guests with a unique culinary experience, reminiscent of the European countryside.

Boasting a carefully selected wine and beer list and chef and bartender attention to select spirits to create craft house cocktails, The Smoking Goat assures there is always the correct pairing available.

    Had a great experience at The Smoking Goat! The cozy ambiance and attentive service made for a pleasant evening. We started with the escargot, which was rich and flavorful, followed by the duck à l’orange, cooked perfectly with crispy skin and a tangy citrus sauce. The quality and taste were worth the price, and I’d definitely return!

    Cane here for a late Valentine's dinner. This was our second time here and food was delicious just like the first time. We ordered the duck, the rocky Jr. Chicken, escargot and the goat cheese cheesecake was an absolute must to finish off our meal. Staff was super friendly, and food came out in a timely manner. Definitely has become one of our favorite restaurants!

    Very good good just for a pre fixed amount should have included some type of roses especially for valentines. More valentines decor.

    Service was good and the restaurant was really nice, but the food was just… meh. Nothing really notable about the apps, entrees, or drinks. The food wasn’t bad - it just wasn’t good for the price we paid.

    Smoking Goat restaurant does not disappoint. They are extremely accommodating when it comes to special requests and reservation changes. French onion soup and grilled octopus were delicious!

    We had reservations, but did not get seated at the time of our reservation and had to wait. Took forever to even get water and asked about drinks. Food was average. I was really looking forward to this place, their website was promising.
