The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

The ultimate kick off to the holiday season. Many families and dressed up children. A fairy princess will visit your table and grant u a wish and sprinkle you with fairy dust. The braised short rib is delicious! Do not miss the frango mint pie. Delicious cocktails!

We had a fantastic server! The Turkey dinner was delicious as was the Frango mint cheesecake dessert. We always look forward to going every year. The only thing I wish was different was the ease of obtaining the reservations.

Visiting from Kansas and really wanted to do something unique to Chicago. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Ordered the chicken pot pie and it was UH-MAZING!

Lex was our waiter today and he did an outstanding job. He was very attentive to our needs, brought the food in a timely manner, always had a smile on his face, asked if we needed anything, etc. Lex made our experience at the Walnut Room even better! Thank you Lex!!!

We’ve been coming to the Walnut Room for many years. Quality is always very good. This time the fairies were a delight! It was well organized and worth the effort to go at our age!

Started going here 8 years ago when my eldest grandchild was 3 years old. We’ve grown to a party of 12. Service was great. Food was good. Princesses were wonderful. A now great family tradition. I just wish we for once could be closer to the tree. I make the reservations so far in advance. A good time for all.

We had a FANTASTIC experience at the Walnut Room! The room is magical and we were visited by fairy princesses. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was great! Everything was perfect! Our visit this year was much approved upon to last year. Maybe it just was too busy at the time. It's always very special!
