The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

Food is quite good for such a large and busy establishment, exceeded expectations. Some staff are very friendly, others not as much. Lovely, historic spot and nice overall experience. I would do it again.

Very cute experience with friends! Food was good, got to make some wishes with the faeries (still kids at heart), and had an overall good time. Going up to the walnut room was also magical with all the wonderful decorated Christmas trees and seeing the grand tree was amazing. Can’t wait to make this a yearly tradition.

Amazing service from everyone we met at the restaurant. We had the lobster bisque, pot pie and mushroom ravioli, and enjoyed everything we tasted. The food was rich and fresh, and seasoned perfectly. They even had a holiday fairy that would walk around and grant wishes which was fun and unique. Overall highly recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful experience. Visited on a Sunday afternoon. It was a bit overcrowding at the check-in entrance. There were signs on how to line up, but not in a full view where everyone waiting could see. The noise level was a bit high. Our meal/drinks were excellent. I recommend visiting during a weekday. Overall, you can not go wrong with dining at The Walnut Room.

We had a wonderful experience eating at the Walnut Room next to the classic big tree. I have a significantly disabled daughter who travels in a medical stroller and they were very accommodating with us. We had a perfect spot right next to the tree! The menu is small, but offers a decent variety and everyone was happy with their meal. I feel it is very affordable for the experience provided and the long standing nostalgia.

Our Annual Christmas lunch was amazing. Our server Jerry went above and beyond to assist us with our selections and as our server. Bravo to Jerry. He made our day. Please acknowledge Jerry for his fine service. We will be back soon and ask for Jerry. My granddaughter had an awesome time. Thank you Walnut room

The Holiday Christmas experience is one of our favorites! The menu and food ensure we always return. The decor is classic and reminiscent of Christmas past with gorgeous wood carvings, beautiful swags and the ever anticipated Christmas tree! Our collection of holiday mugs is anticipated each year! The children love to be pixie dusted and wishes granted! Always a favorite!
