The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

    The Walnut Room is our favorite restaurant after Thanksgiving. It became our tradition! Great food and great service! They always give a smile!

    This is an annual tradition. Our first year not being by the tree but the view was still quite nice and service was wonderful.

    The kids menu was great. It came with the annual mug and a cookie with an entree and a side all for a great price. Service was great, our waitress was lovely & took our photos in front of the tree for us because the photographer person kept skipping our table. It was our daughters first trip and we hope to make it a family tradition… since it was mine growing up too!

    Hostesses were not their usual holiday self. Usually they very friendly and kind, these were rude. Thanks to the manager that allowed us to sit at a decent table.

    Lex / Alexander was a wonderful host. He listened and was attentive. The food was good and well done. My only complaint was that I wish the menu was deeper. This is a tourist place, but it was worth it.
