The whole family of 15 was coming to SF for Thanksgiving for a celebration of life. Open Table didn't accept a group that large, so we called Top of the Mark directly. We were told, "make two reservations on Open Table for the number." Unfortunately, Open Table wouldn't allow one person to make two reservations, so Top of the Mark indicated, "make a second reservation with someone else with a note to combine the two reservations." We did that. We kept in touch with Top of the Mark all the way up to the date of the reservation to make sure our party of 15, following the instructions from Top of the Mark, would be seated together. We arrive on Thanksgiving to Top of the Mark and: NOPE. No setting for our party of 15. We were asked to stand off to the side to wait while they tried to put a bunch of tables together for our party. In the end, we didn't get to sit together and we're at two separate tables.
Additionally, the whole event was a complete debacle. Hundreds of people arriving for a 1pm seating that they clearly were not ready for. Lines for food wrapped around the buffet. Not enough room around the buffet to walk around. They constantly ran out of dinner plates. They constantly ran out of food. Want to wait 30 minutes standing in line for food? Want to eat cold food by the time you got back to your seat? This was the place to be. Food was also rancid in part. A member of my party had a dessert that was rancid and the cooking staff eventually tried it and took the whole tray away, it was that bad. Chafing dishes were full of hot water but the lids were not properly balanced, so they tipped over and spilled scalding water everywhere.
This event was just one big shyte show and definitely not worth $200/person. Such a horrible experience, and my family used to go here annually They need to bring back the service and hospitality pre -pandemic, or at the very least hire people who know what the hell they are doing. (Same event advertised for Christmas. DON'T GO!)
