True Food Kitchen is a chef-driven restaurant and scratch bar that was founded by Dr. Andrew Weil, the pioneer of integrative medicine, to provide food that tastes great and is good for you.     The butternut squash soup was great but the other items we ordered were bland. Even the hummus changed a bit. Still good but lots of pesto mixed in now. Miss the old version. My salmon was flavorless and my honey carrots were raw. My husband said the same about his teriyaki chicken bowl.

    Thank you for the feedback Rebecca. The hummus did change a few months ago, and my suggestion to you would be to fill out a "Talk to True" form on our website to let them know your disappointment with the new hummus. If there is enough disappointment with it, they might consider changing it back to the old one. I will follow up with the chef regarding your other items so we can refresh the cooking procedures/recipes with those line cooks to make sure that does not happen in the future. I really appreciate you letting us know.

    Always good food and good service. One of my favorite restaurants in Austin. I love to eat clean, and I love that their menu is full of vegetarian and gluten-free options.

    Love. TFK. It’s my favorite restaurant in town. I love the plethora of GF options. I also appreciate that they are a seed oil free restaurant. I have had Maegan as my server on multiple occasions and she’s stellar. Highly recommend TFK!

    Food is always good but waitress Karla could use some training. She ignored my guest’s specific instructions about what she wanted (steamed vegetables and rice) and was surly and unapologetic when asked to take back what she brought: teriyaki bowl Otherwise a lovely meal and sitting outside is very nice

    Our server was nice & meant well but he seemed inexperienced, untimely and didn’t check in on us more than one time. It was hard to track anyone down to help us. We waited for someone to greet our table for over 15 mins. The food was slow & the. came out cold. Sadly we saw it sitting out on the kitchen counter for awhile before it got brought to us. Thankful for the GF options but we won’t be dining here again. We also had the wrong food brought to us mutlitple times. They need to get their table numbers down. We wanted to love it! They seem understaffed & there was no sense of urgency/timeliness.

    Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. Our service was slow and inattentive. Two items we ordered were not available and our food came out cold.

    Thank you for the feedback Jenn. I am so sorry you had slow service when you were in recently. I was able to see who your server was and I will absolutely be following up with them to ensure this does not continue to happen in the future. I also am sorry that we were out of a couple of items you ordered and the food was cold. That is an issue I will be speaking to the chef about, because the food absolutely should not be arriving to you cold. Being that we make everything here fresh everyday, unfortunately we do occasionally run out of some items. Again, I am sorry that 2 of the items you wanted to order were not available. I appreciate your feedback and hope you choose to give us another chance in the future. If you do, please make sure to ask for me so I can follow up and make sure it is a much better experience for you. Thank you, Vanessa Johnson General Manager

    It feels as though the staff is vastly under educated on food preparation, beverage knowledge and service steps. Bartender seemed uninterested in providing insight to wine (as she was on her phone for the majority of the time) server neglected to keep up with allergy requests (gluten nuts) which coincided with part of our party not able to enjoy some items. We were left with dirty plates and silverwear after our first course, and felt rushed through our meal. As someone who works in service industry as a server, I was embarrassed for our server as she was having to check with the kitchen for questions about the menu. Over all will not be returning any time soon.
