Built in 1840, this former Cape May plantation residence is now home to the acclaimed Washington Inn and Wine Bar. The Craig Family has carefully preserved the beauty & essence of this distinctive treasure without undertaking major alterations to its original form. The Inns welcoming facade overlooks tree-lined Washington Street in the seaside communitys Historic District. The Washington Inn offers six unique dining areas, from a summer patio to cozy fireside tables. Cocktails are a must in the Wine Bar, where the passing Cape May scene can be best appreciated. Often described as romantic, our easy-going elegance will satisfy anyones craving for fine dining. Our enticing menu offers the best of American cuisine, but with an inventive, upscale edge.     Food and ambience in was very good. Lighting made it difficult to read menu . Our server was inattentive compared to the other server taking care of the 3 tables in the small and cozy room.

    First of all, stacie our server was outstanding!!! So nice, so accommodating & just a really nice & friendly woman! We fell in love with her!! Food was awesome, restaurant beautiful! We will be back soon & hopefully stacie will be there to make our dining experience a great night. P s we had a 9 week old with us, & everyone was accommodating as well. Thank you & have a wonderful holiday

    We have never been disappointed with any of our meals. Good value for the price. Attentive service and it was quiet where we sat. Plenty of options on the menu. We will return.

    Once again an outstanding experience. Gabriela did a great job serving us. Food was expertly prepared. Our filet minions were as good as any top flight steak house anywhere and much better than from Primal. We’ll be back.

    Great food and service but the prices are just too high. I paid almost $100 more than I did a few years ago. Why go out any more when it’s impossible to afford?

    We arrived early and we each got a cocktail. The bar is small and was packed and loud. The bartenders were serving customers and the service bar. They probably could have had 3 bartenders on to avoid making customers wait. The cocktails we ordered were perfect! We were seated ahead of our reservation. We order a beet and pear salad, which we do not recommend. There were small pieces of pear and beat drenched or more like drowned in a puddle of a creamy feta sauce. I was actually surprised the chef let it leave the kitchen that way but maybe that’s how the dish is meant to be. We had to fish out the pieces of beet and pear. The short rib had a heavy red wine reduction and was not very tender. It seemed under cooked. The Cioppino was good but had a few scallops that were pushed aside due to a heavy fish taste. The Parmesan Gnocchi was okay. Dessert was the best part. The French pressed coffee was very good. The crème brûlée was tasty but unfortunately not very silky or creamy. It was baked a little too long. We had heard rave reviews about the Inn but unfortunately our experience with the food was not one to rave about. It could’ve been an off night. Our server was very personable and professional.

    We came to Cape May for a romantic post-engagement getaway, and the Washington Inn did not disappoint. This place is perfect for everyone. We saw friends, families, and couples gathered together for good food and drinks. We loved our food, cocktails, and our waitress, Rachel! We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cape May. The food, drinks, and ambience were perfect. Thank you to the staff at the Washington Inn! We will be back and we will recommend it to all our friends!
